SmartSynch Acquires CreataLink® 2XT Product Line From MotorolaReFLEX®-based telemetry devices ideal for wireless applications Jackson, MS — March 11, 2002 SmartSynch, a privately held technology company providing smart metering solutions to the energy and utility industry, announced it has acquired the CreataLink 2XT product line from Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT). The acquisition will enable SmartSynch to produce the CreataLink 2XT two-way wireless data transceiver, a leading telemetry module for wireless applications operating on ReFLEX protocol-based networks. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The CreataLink 2XT data transceiver is being utilized in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America for various applications, including utility meter reading, asset tracking and control, security applications, healthcare device monitoring, vending, HVAC control, cathodic measurement, irrigation monitoring, and monitoring and control of electronic signage. SmartSynch uses the technology as a core component of its SmartMeter SystemSM, a real-time connectivity system that enables energy and utility companies to communicate with their commercial and industrial electricity meters. “This acquisition is important to our company,” said Mark Rodgers, CEO of SmartSynch. “It will enable us to expand our position as the leading provider of smart metering solutions while giving us new opportunities to grow our business.
