Emory University Business School Names Best Private CompaniesJackson, MS — May 8, 2006 SmartSynch, a global leader in wireless technology for the energy industry, is among a group of 250 companies selected by Emory University for exceptional business practices. The list of companies was compiled by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Corporate Growth at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. The program, known as Project Eagle, is a major initiative to identify the top 250 private growth companies in the southeastern United States. “SmartSynch is honored to be included in this group of outstanding companies,” said Stephen D. Johnston, CEO of SmartSynch. “This public recognition is a tribute to the talent and innovation of our employees whose dedication has propelled us to the top of our industry.” To be considered, companies had to meet certain criteria, which included generating more than $3 million in revenue during the past 12 months, exhibiting annual revenue growth in excess of 20% over the past three years, and experiencing a headcount growth in excess of 25% over three years. The listing is part of a business school project which identifies entrepreneurs, advisors and capital sources that promote successful business practices in the region. Project Eagle is part of the center’s mission to create and disseminate knowledge related to building and leading growth businesses. SmartSynch has raised $47 million in venture capital, the largest amount of venture capital raised by a single entity in the state of Mississippi.
