Agreement with Arch Wireless Enhances SmartSynch's SmartMeter System

Jackson, MS — June 24, 2003

SmartSynch®, Inc. announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement with Arch WirelessTM, Inc., a leading provider of narrowband PCS wireless services in the U.S. and Mexico, that enables its SmartMeters to communicate over the Arch wireless network. The alliance expands the wireless network options available to SmartSynch’s utility and energy service provider customers within the United States and immediately opens the Mexican power market for SmartSynch’s technology. The SmartMeter System can now provide smart metering across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

SmartSynch’s technology is available through Itron, a leading global technology provider to the utility industry. Itron and SmartSynch signed an agreement last year under which Itron became the exclusive distributor of SmartSynch’s SmartMeter technology, bringing together two premier providers of C&I metering solutions. The SmartMeter System interfaces seamlessly with Itron’s industry-standard MV-90 head end.
