SmartSynch® Names John Palmer To Board of DirectorsNew Board Member is Former Ambassador to Portugal Jackson, MS — September 20, 2005 SmartSynch, a global leader in wireless technology for the energy industry, has named John Palmer to its board of directors. Palmer, a former ambassador to Portugal and telecommunications pioneer, will join six other members of the SmartSynch board. Palmer is chairman of GulfSouth Capital, Inc, of Jackson, and previously served as chairman of Skytel, an international leader in wireless networks. He was appointed Ambassador to Portugal in 2001 by President George W. Bush. He was also selected by Bush to sit on the President’s Export Council as a Private Sector Advisor to the Secretary of Commerce and was a Reagan appointee as the Private Sector Trade Advisor to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. “We are very fortunate to have John Palmer join our board,” said Stephen D. Johnston, SmartSynch’s chief executive officer. “As a pioneer in the telecommunications industry, his insight will be a tremendous asset for us. Additionally, his experience in the public and private sector, both in the United States and abroad, will benefit SmartSynch as we seek to expand our market opportunities.” Palmer also served as president of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association and Telocator, both national trade organizations. A native Mississippian, Palmer received both his undergraduate and MBA from the University of Mississippi.
