Smart Meters Wirelessly Deliver Power Quality & Reliability Functionality

SmartSynch, a leading provider of end-to-end wireless data solutions, announced today that in partnership with Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution, Inc., it has added power quality and reliability (PQ/R) monitoring to its energy and utility wireless data services portfolio.

According to a recent report by Banc of America Securities, power quality related losses in the US topped 50 billion dollars in 1999 and could top 100 billion dollars in the future. In 1999, the amount lost as a result of power quality issues in the US alone was roughly five times the amount spent on power quality worldwide.
